Pioneer Garden Prepped For A Long Winter’s Nap

November 1st brought us our first substantial snow of the season, but that did not stop the determined and faithful volunteers at the Pioneer Garden.

After removing spent plant debris in prior weeks, our next job was to lay cardboard on the annual beds and top with composted leaves provided by Debbie Moore.  We tried this technique last year and we were all quite pleased with the results ‒ less weeds to clean up in the spring and improved soil condition.

After spreading a pickup-load of leaves we were treated to hot wassail brought by Debbie.

Those attending were Connie Shei, Debbie Moore, Kathleen Staninger, Nancy Fournier, Mary Davis and Bill Davis
