Student Garden Project

POST INFORMATION

Project Coordination – Tom Boesen

Paladin Head Start Program, located at Niemann Elementary School, Michigan City

Master Gardeners guided students, ages 3-5, in steps from starting seeds to planting and tending vegetable and flower gardens at the school.

Students were introduced to seed starting and care of seedlings including indoor light and water requirements and observed germination and growth of their plants until they were ready for outdoor conditions. The students then transplanted their plants to outdoor raised gardens and tended them until harvest.

Kit Knoll, Vicki Znavor, Tom Boesen, Janet Davis and Melinda Bush ready to help the students at Paladin Head Start.

A young student learning from a wise gardener. This is how we help others grow.
